Hearing aid prices in India: what you actually pay for

6 minute read · Updated October 2026

Two hearing aids can look the same and cost ten times apart. Here is where the money goes, and how to avoid paying for features you won't use.

The quick answer

Per ear, expect roughly ₹15,000 to ₹18,000 for a basic hearing aid, ₹20,000 to ₹75,000 for mid-range, and ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 for premium. Most people with hearing loss in both ears need two, so double these figures for a pair. See prices by style.

1. Technology level matters most

Every brand sells the same body shape at several technology levels. Higher levels handle background noise better, adjust automatically between quiet and noisy places, and offer more fine-tuning. For someone who mostly stays home and watches TV, a basic or mid-range aid is often enough. For someone who works, travels or attends many functions, a higher level makes a real difference.

2. Style

BTE models are usually the most affordable and most powerful. RIC models are the most popular balance of size and sound. Custom in-ear and invisible models cost more for the same technology because they are made from a mould of your ear.

3. Rechargeable or battery

Rechargeable models cost more upfront but save buying batteries every week or two, which is easier for elderly users with stiff fingers or weak eyesight.

4. Bluetooth and app control

Streaming phone calls and TV sound directly to the hearing aids is very useful for some people and unnecessary for others. Ask yourself honestly whether it will be used.

What the price should include

  • Hearing test and a copy of your audiogram
  • Fitting and programming to your hearing test
  • Follow-up visits for fine-tuning in the first months
  • Warranty, usually 1 to 3 years
  • Basic accessories: charger or first batteries, cleaning kit, domes
Tip

Always ask whether a quoted price is for one ear or a pair. It is the most common source of confusion.

Ways to reduce the cost

  • Choose the technology level for your real lifestyle, not the top model.
  • Ask about EMI options and trade-in offers at the clinic.
  • Check whether you are eligible for government schemes such as ADIP for persons with disabilities, or reimbursement through your employer or CGHS.
